Samantha Livingston is an indie author with an interest in many different genres including Westerns, Romance, Teen, and Animal lover’s books.
When did you start writing and why?
I have been writing since I was little because it was something I was good at and enjoyed doing. It took me to other worlds and I could decide what happened in these worlds.
If you are a parent how does being a parent affect your writing and writing habits? Or does it?
I am not yet a parent but someday when I am I suspect I will have to change my writing schedule to work around my parenting. The parenting will always come first. I’m sure the ideas will still be there though!
Who is your favorite author and why?
I don’t think I have a specific favorite author because I like so many different genres.
What do you hope to accomplish with your writing?
I hope that my writing will always keep the reader interested and cause them to feel many different emotions while reading it.
Traditional or Self publishing? Why?
I self publish mainly because it gives me the freedom to be me and write what I want. I have all the rights to my work and I do not have to work on a deadline. That is a freeing feeling.
Talk about your journey into the wide world of publishing
I wrote my first novel “A Matter of Loyalty, A Question of Forgiveness” a year ago and I knew I wanted to get it published. It was this past April, over a year later, that I discovered Lulu.com through a friend who also uses their services. I am already working on two more books and I could not be happier with Lulu.com! I am exactly where I wanted to be at this point in my life!
Tell us about your book (s)
As stated before, my book is a Western, Romance titled “A Matter of Loyalty, A Question of Forgiveness” and it is about a young woman named Katrina whose husband, Dave has gone away quiet often during their marriage of five years. She starts to believe he is an outlaw but there might just be more to the story than she realizes.
What inspired you to write these books (or in this genre)?
I have always loved Westerns. My favorite show since I was about ten has been “Bonanza” so I knew I wanted to write a Western before anything else.
Tell us why we should love or hate your main character?
All of the main characters have traits that can make you love them, some maybe more than others. Even when you think some are not very likeable, you realize you can’t help but love them.
Do(es) your book(s) have a soundtrack?
I tend to listen to music when I write a majority of the time. Sometimes I write in silence but most of the time I’m listening to Country Music, Rock Music, or sometimes even Disney songs.
