Q&A with E.G. Weeks

q & a

Give a cold dead body welcome to the wonderful E.G. Weeks as our first guest on the blog for 2016!

What were you like at school?

In college I was a bit more outgoing than I was in high school. But, still, I would probably be classified by today’s standards as an introvert.

Were you good at English?

I was always a very good student and English is no exception.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?

I write because I like to write and bring life to the characters of my imagination. I would also like to see these characters brought to life on the screen.

So, what have you written? 12442840_509508142554245_520835012_n

I currently have three books in the Tatiana series which is erotic romance (ero/rom); two novellas in the Where We Left Off series, a sweet romance (sweetrom) interracial, bwwm with another book in the works; and a romcom short story titled Girl Talk.

Where can we buy or see them?

All my books are currently in ebook format and available on Amazon.

Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

Tatiana series

In the Tatiana series the main character, Tatiana Kimball, is a forty something woman who is recently divorced and ready to redefine herself and explore the unknown in terms of her career, her health and body image and her sexuality. The debut novel, Tatiana’s Chance, introduces us to a cast of characters who are Facebook friends meeting through various “chance” encounters; some of those “encounters” are steamier than others! You won’t be disappointed at all! In fact, you’ll want to come back for the second book, Tatiana’s Choice, for some grown and sexy action and adventure that will set you on fire in Negril, Jamaica! The third book, Tatiana’s Charms, has our favorite diva finally making some personal decisions about the men in her life and more importantly, about herself. She lets go of all her inhibitions and is able to experience something for which she has searched a long time.

Going Home – Khloe Winston finally returns to her childhood town to visit her parents for Thanksgiving. It has been years since she has been home. She took the week off from work and made the trip by car from Old Palm Harbor, Florida to Long Island, New York. She would, of course, run into Paul Whittington, her high school prom date and backyard neighbor. Paul had returned home after serving in the Navy and never left home again. He also never got around to finding a wife. In the second book, Moving Home – Now that the Christmas holidays are here Khloe has the opportunity to have some serious discussions with her mother about her relationship with Paul, spend time with family and friends, and observe the holiday traditions when her entire family returns home to be with each other for Christmas. They also reveal a secret Paul has been keeping, which will rock Khloe to her very core.

What are you working on at the minute?

I am currently working on several projects, the third book in the WWLO series, which will be titled, Welcome Home. I am not sure how this part of Paul and Khloe’s story will flesh out but I will let the characters tell their story through me as usual. I am also working on a collaborative urban fiction with an extremely talented author who is sharing his knowledge as a seasoned author. The third project I am working on is in its initial stages so I am not at liberty to discuss the details but there is a huge learning curve for me so it’s on my long terms goals list at the moment.

What genre are your books?

My main genre is romance. But my subgenres include erotica, sweet romance, multicultural, poetry and inspiration.

What draws you to this genre?12459584_509508155887577_1715888742_n

I am a romantic at heart. Yes, the sappy, sweet, “get a room” kind of romance that people laugh about but cannot help but be drawn to. I also use inspiration as a way of reaching people where they are to let them know they are normal, just like everyone else and that their situation is only temporary. I also use inspirational writing to remind myself of the very same things.

Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?

My first thoughts for Tatiana would be Nia Long, Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan or Queen Latifah. In the same series, I would absolutely love to see Shemar Moore or Micheal Ealy play Rodney and Idris Elba play Shonn while Terrence Howard or Morris Chestnut play the part of Quan. You can see that I’ve given much thought to this!

For Khloe, Keri Washington or Gina Ravera might be a good match and for Paul I like thought of either Tony Goldwyn, Simon Baker or Chris Pine.

What12464038_509508125887580_1098595411_n do you think of “trailers” for books?

I absolutely love book trailers! I had one done for my first book that was just ok
ay, but I make a trailer for my third book, Tatiana’s Charms, that I think turned out pretty good. Please take a look at it! https://youtu.be/p8JA-wfj4bs

How do you relax?

I watch tv or listen to music to relax, usually with a glass or sweet tea or red wine. I also enjoy watching the night sky. Something about the stars and moon is just so soothing.

Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?

I often get messages from people who want to know why I write, “that naughty stuff” as they say, and I usually smile and take a moment to laugh with them. They I get very serious and respond to them with questions of my own like, “Have you ever had sex? Ever been in love? Have you ever had your heart broken or felt like you weren’t getting what you needed out of your marriage or relationship? Have you ever felt old and past the stage of usefulness?” They usually try to laugh but I cut them off with, “that’s 12476041_509508189220907_233463307_nreal life, so is starting over at 45, 50, or 60. So are the emotions of being an empty nester or surviving your spouse.” People are quick to think these topics are private and only for “the people” going through those things, but WE ARE those people and our day will come when we do go through some major life changes.

I am here to share with people my own age with a message that says that life is not over at some magical number. We do not have to be relegated to the porch rocking chair or the senior center just because we get our AARP cards in the mail. Being old is a state of mind but being bold is also a state of mind.
